I agree with what first 2 people say but be carefull though, you may have programs installed on D: drive. If you format the drive you will ahve to reinstall those programs. What I would do in your place is I would change the drive letter (or remove the drive letter) first in disk management , restart the machine and see if everything works fine. If yes, you can format d:.

One thing to bear in mind. A lot of trojans and spyware are in hidden files, so just going out and deleting files won't work unless you can delete and reformat the drive. Make sure there is absolutely nothing on the drive you need before doing that. Personally, I would first use somethjing like Spybot to clean your disk and remove and mal-ware.
good luck.

If your XP installation (boot, system and program files) is in C drive, you can delete/format D: drive.
@ Deedee - how can you download XP if you format your computer? Think that.. :)

If your hard drive is partitioned and you windows exp is in your C:\ drive and your systems boots up using the C:\ drive you can do whatever you want in the D:\ drive. It's not a problem.

If you mean D:\ drive, sure. Just format it in Disk Management and start over.

Sure. As long as your computer is configured to boot from C: and as long as your apps, data, and internet and e-mail settings have been transferred already (without the virus).
