It differs from teacher to teacher (some are picky and only like it their way), but generally you want to give the author, title, theme, and location of the article in the first two sentences. Make sure you follow the 5Ws: who, what, where, when, and why. (ex. Hasdai Westbrook discusses the consequences of making those with drug convictions ineligible for financial aid in college in her article "Drug War Flunks Out," which was published in the June 12, 2006 issue of (italicized) The Nation.) Afterwords summarize and reflect to whatever specifications you were given. Some teachers only want summaries, other want you to reflect and comment on the article.

Ask your teacher, for most of mine, it's an attention grabber or a brief summery of the whole article/ what's it about.
