The other night I was sitting in chair and my laptop was folded up next to me. My son who is in a cast handed me his juice to take to the kitchen. I was really, really tired and fell asleep sitting up in the chair holding the glass of juice. At some point during the night the juice fell over and leaked into the laptop. It seems like it just got into the monitor. When I hit the keys they work fine (I can only check caps lock and scroll lock). The welcome screen comes up very very very faded nd then goes black. Is there anyway this can be fixed or do I buy a new one? I have an acer aspire 3620.

First, turn the laptop off. Liquid can cause short circuits. If you let it dry out without running it, the problem might "magically" go away when the liquid dries and can no longer create shorts. By turning it on wet, you can burn things out permanently.
Second, I agree with trying an external monitor to see if it's just the monitor or the whole system. If it's only the monitor, those can be replaced. If it's the motherboard, best to throw it away and buy another.

Probably toast, would cost more to repair then to replace. Try connecting the laptop to an external monitor (most have a connection on the back) to see if it is just the screen that is broke. If thats the case you may be able to seel it for something. Otherwise put it on Ebay for parts.

It wont be a motherboard undertaking from slamming it close, that could be a stupid concept. The reveal has only long gone that is all, that could be a loose connection or greater severe. it somewhat is fixable yet could cos slightly. As for her archives, the trickypersistent could be taken out and archives could be transferred to what she likes interior the interim. Take it to 3 workstation restore shops, see in case you get a similar answer to the concern from each and every, see who promises greater effective fee for money, and time to do the interest. Then bypass with the single you think of is the main functional.

Did you try drying the thing out before trying it?

If so, I suggest you visit the shop and asking them for a quote on repair if your laptop is relatively new. If the quote is too expensive or if your laptop is due for replacement anyway, I suggest you get a new one that's as vista-ready as possible (unless you're into linux).

Looks like the monitor is not working. I had mine dropped on the floor once and the monitor is dead black. Had it replaced under warranty and it is normal. Lucky me.

bummer! looks like you got dried up sticky juice in the innards. if it isn't wasted, it looks like a pro job to restore it to working condition. water is bad enough!
