With the impending Federal Gov't Entitlement Crisis it is important that we make every effort to have healthy productive Senior Citizens. If nothing is done, dignified and humane treatment of senior citizens will bring forth an ethical issue far greater than the destruction of embryos. The Federal government should and is obligated to fund Stem Cell Reserach. Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and Arthritus are dibilitating conditions that cut short otherwise healthy senior citizens.

Republicans account for 15% of registered voters and of that 40% are social conservatives. Does support for President' Bush's veto extend beyond the social conservatives or is this a case where a small but organized group of religious conservatives are imposing their beliefs on the rest of society.

I can do better than that. In nursing homes, you are required to report abuse, neglect. A resident was overdosed on insulin, you call the dept of aging they don't have to investigate, so why bother having a div of aging? Child abuse has to be investigated why are our seniors not entitled to the same protection? I can talk about morals, but no one seems to want to hear what I have to say. Mo has the worst government I've on the planet I think. At least in Holland and foreign countries caring for the elderly is an honorable thing, here we just sweep them under the rug and hope it goes away.

You are confused. President Bush is against spending government money on this research. And I agree. Why should the taxpayers support this particular research as opposed to some other kinds of research? Bush may also personally be against embryonic stem cell destruction for moral reasons, but this issue is about tax money.

I agree with the president that private industry should continue to pursue this research. Furthermore, why embryonic stem cells? Hasn't research shown that adult stem cells are just as effective?

I think the President and his advisors should take a break and think long and hard about what they are doing should they veto this bill. There's a great article in this month's Scientific American that provides tremendous insight into stem cells; he might want to have someone read it to him.

Your beloved Entitlemen programs are forcing your morals on other people. I don't hear you complaining about that. Why don't you try to get the senior citizens to treat our generation with dignity? They are forcing us to pay for their retirement. Not because they are sick, or disabled, but just because they were lucky enough to live to age 65. That somehow gives them the right to steal money from me and my children? Where is the dignity in that? Where are the morals of stealing from people to support old people that are capable of supporting themselves?

So I ask you: what is the cost of people's morals? The cost of your morals is my money and freedom.
