If you consider countdowns to launch they at least subtract time. You know: T minus 45 seconds (and counting).

But in our world, humans only experience time in what is defined as a forward motion, and we are unable to turn back time or reverse it.

On the other hand, many people refer to past event in a kind of negative time, such as for Ancient Egypt. Example: Such and such a pyramid was built in 2400 B.C. Pharaoh so and so lived from 2522 to 2487 B.C., so that's kind of backwards.

But until we can travel backwards in time, I suppose we'll measure it in the forward or positive direction.

Time can be measured in the negative. However this is uncommon. The first example I can think of is the Space Shuttle Count Timer, which before takeoff is actually negative time "T minus..."
In mapping the trajectory of a particle, you can substitute negatives in for time to see where the particle WAS that amount of time ago.

1 hour ago you have asked the question. Is the time not negative?

It is. -10 minutes = 10 minutes ago.

Like money -10 dollars = I spent 10 dollars.

You could measure time like a countdown I suppose, but it does seem a bit gloomy.

Ahhh... but it is!

Listen to the old movies where they launch rockets into space...

The countdown always begins "T Minus 15 seconds"

Rather than FIFTEEN SECONDS TO GO!!!!!

But then, I'm not a rocket scientist, so what do I know?

How do you mean?
You could measure time that way if you wanted, but wouldn't it be more than a tad depressing?

time is a constant at an absolute value. positive or negative is not important, only the value.
