I'm gonna fly next week with my daughter to this wonderful country (been there 10 years ago). Can anyone tell me what I can do and see there on interesting things for a kid, like beaches, places to play (beside Disneyland in Tokyo which is 3h away)? Reasonable place to stay, probably together with native families? Sorry for my bad english, I'm german ;-)

Here's a few other ideas of things to do in Nagoya if you don't mind riding the train a spell. Many of these are a few minutes walk from the station.
*'The Nagoya TV Tower' tour might be interesting for the both of you? You'll have a spectacular view of the city as well.

☆It's very HOT & HUMID now here in Japan and we're still having some rain, so bring two pairs of shoes/sandals, -light, comfy clothes that dry easily and a handkerchief or two if you have them. If you'll be out and about, bring your caps, sunscreen and sunglasses if you use them.
If it gets too hot out, stop and have a delicious 'kakigori' (Japanese shaved ice with flavored syrup topping)

with your child. They will absolutely love it and be refreshed and cool! It's delicious!
You might be able to catch a summer festival or two as well. I think your child will love this. Lots of summer games for children and fun things to do. You may even want to get your child a little 'yukata' at UNIQLO,

great prices!
Hope this helps, have a great time!♡

I went to Japan in April with a 12-year-old, 9-year-old, 7 -year-old, and 6-year-old. Their favorite places were, in this order:
1) The 100-yen stores.
2) The hot springs resort.
3) The izakayas (pubs) where you can sit around on the floor with a large group sampling lots of dishes but you're really cheating because there's a hollowed out space under the table for your feet.
4) Toy departments inside the department stores. Nagoya station has a Tokyu Hands store that is full of interesting things (craft supplies, travel goods, etc.) from around the world. It's not as much fun as it used to be, though, because the 100-yen stores have pretty cool stuff too.

Since Japan is toy heaven and things are pretty expensive, I recommend having a reward system to help control the buying frenzy. For example, buy a small Japanese coin purse (100 yen!) and pay 10-yen for every new Japanese word/letter the child learns/uses. The saving can be as satisfying as the spending.

Have fun! I'll be happy to answer any more specific questions you might have.

it is no longer a concern, different than possibly interior the prepare stations and attending to the main appropriate song with the stroller. various the better stations have elevators. I shuttle employing the JR Rail pass, and it is super! sure, it is going to likely be sturdy till the top of the day on the Sunday you stated. There are not any specific prepare vehicles for infants. I continuously improve and get the "eco-friendly vehicle" pass. as a techniques because of the fact the stroller and bags, you may placed those in the back of the final row of seats interior the vehicle you experience in. Smaller products can circulate up over your head. i could propose a small stroller! there is no longer that plenty room, and the storage is first come, first served. so a techniques as hotels, I frequently stay in very superb ones. maximum cities have good hotels suitable with the aid of (or linked to) the prepare station. Nagoya Station has a brilliant Marriott ($one hundred thirty). Kyoto Station has lodge Granvia ($a hundred ninety). Tokyo is plenty extra problematic, because of the fact it relies upon what component to the city you reside in. I frequently stay in Shinjuku, on the Century Hyatt ($225). For sight-seeing, maximum hotels furnish bus excursion programs, which I fairly propose. i've got carried out them in many Asian cities, and that they are risk-free and informative. you additionally can want to circulate to Hiroshima and excursion the "Peace Museum," that's all concerning to the atomic bomb dropping. it is a particularly humbling journey for an American! you will see various the nation-state only traveling on the trains, despite if it is going with the aid of speedy. i'm hoping that facilitates!

Sorry I really don't know much about that area. I was there for 2 months and I just got back but I was in the Chiba area. Lonely Planet has a really good guide to Japan that I found helpful and they go through all the areas and prefectures of Japan in that book.
