What is the best way to repel deer and rabbits from my hostas?

Hostas are magnets for certain animals.

Can you put up deer fencing?
A dog on a runner leash will probably keep out most deer & rabbits.
Some people use predator urine. You can buy it at some organic or larger garden centers.
I have heard the red pepper/garlic spray works but you have to re-apply it often.

I found a website called deerfortress.com that carries repellent. This has been the only product that has worked in my garden. I tried sprays, soaps, hair, urine, etc. They were too time consuming for my busy schedule. I had deer munching in my garden all the time, haven't had a problem since I started using this type of repellent. Good luck.

I have had people come into the greenhouse I work at saying that they sprayed this around their plants, missed some, and those missed ones were eaten down to nothing where the ones that had the liquid fence around them were perfectly fine.

Collect some human hair from a barber shop or hair salon and sprinkle it around.

I sprinkle cayenne pepper around any plants that the animals seem to be eating. If it rains you need to reapply.

this is the best way i found...your urine.. or you can get a bottle of sudsy amonia and spray around them dilute it 2 caps per spray bottle,, do this every few days and specially after the rain amonia wont hurt your plants either

plant mint (peppermint always works) around them. it'll keep away the deer and rabbits, and you can make it into tea. the rabbit problem around my garden is monsterous

they dont like the smell of soap... so i hang soap bars in the trees and human hair is supposed to work but havent needed it since the soap does work
