I've been a fan for a long time, so their sudden ability to win is quite welcome. However, without much difference in their lineup from last season, what do you think makes them go from a 100 loss team to a potential 100 win team?

Any fan of The Tigers should be able to answer this question easily.
Jim Leyland is 100% the main reason.
Of course David Dombrowski is the man behind the scenes. As GM he has stocked our farm system, made some good trades and signed some decent free agents.
Dombrowski's best move....hiring Jim Leyland.
Dombrowski was GM of the 1997 Florida Marlins when Jim Leyland manged that team to a WORLD Series victory.
Leyland has a way of getting his players to play the game the way it was meant to be meant.
The players are buying into his method of playing.
Where as, when Trammell was managing, he did not put his foot down. Trammell was too nice a guy, and that was his downfall.
Leyland is NOT afraid to let his players know what he expects, and is NOT afraid to tell them so.
Leyland knows when to scold a player, when to pat them on the back, when to rest them, when to put them in the #3 slot.
David Dombrowski & JIm Leyalnd are the reason why The Tigers are doing so good.
They won a WORLD Series in Florida in 97, and they will do it again.

I agree...the tigers need to make a big move for a chance to win the world series...but they got young players who are playing great and kenny rogers was a major factor on this team...would like to see tigers win but Go Red Sox!!!

They got Kenny Rogers. I would just like to add i do not think the tigers will do as good in the second half unless they add someone else. Rogers is going to choke like he usually does in the second part of the season. But if they pick up Soriano we could be looking at the world series

I think their pitching staff have really improved. They still don't do good against the big teams like White Sox, Red Sox, Yankees, etc., but that won't stop them from getting to the playoffs.

The younger players have develepoed and matured. The pitching staff is good, with justin verlander and kenny rogers doing good.

New GM
Last year, their percentage was less than .500 at the end of the season. They decided to fire their GM. They have a new one, and I believe that he is the reason.

my husband blaims it on me. if i watch the tigers they loose, if i dont watch they win. talk about superstitions. oh the one guy can shave the runway off his chin any time now dont ya think.
