I am a housewife and a babysitter. I take care of all the laundry, and cleaning, and cooking, and the kids. And anything else that needs to be taken care of inside the house. My husband goes to work......he drives 2 hours each way, and works 8 hours. He doesn't have to anything when he gets home. It would be nice if he would mow our lawn though. He thinks it is my job, since I am a housewife and that is "what I chose to do". I say it's outside of the house and that makes it his job.
In your opinion......whose job is it??

Well, if you live in the city, they don't care who does it but if it gets out of hand, they will mow and send you a huge bill.
** Motivator for hubby?
I guess that on the days you have off together, you need to tell your hubby - here's the list of outdoor things to do. Do you want to mow or do the weedeater? You do the other chore and you have a better time together, getting work done faster, and the lawn looks nice.
Plus the neighbors will think... that's so sweet the two of them out together... (you can think this sucks) but you are getting it done in a civil manner.
There's a chance he doesn't like that chore any better than you do. ** Would he trade dishes after dinner every night for the job?

It is a shared chore at my house, like all of the others.
Sometimes I mow, and sometimes my husband does. I won't use the weed-eater, it is too cranky for me. But I don't mind to mow.
If my workday involved 4 hours of driving and 8 hours of work I would most likely not want to yard work when I was home. I expect I would be exhausted!

In my experience men usually take care of a majority of the yard work. How are you supposed to mow the lawn and watch the kids at the same time? Sounds like he's just lazy.

Hmmm, depends on who old the kids are. In general I'd say it's your job since he's "on the road" for 12 hrs each day. I mean mowing the lawn isn't sooo hard and you don't have to do it like every day. It would get you in the sun too.

I think he's tired and he is asking for help. He just has a demanding way of saying it. If the grass is touching your knees and you are willing to cut the grass, let him know that you are only contributing to the needs of the family. But it is definitely not your job.
If you are trying to prove a point let the grass grow until he cuts it. Make sure you bring him some water. then you cut it the next time, without him knowing and explain that you are contributing to the needs of the family.
PS: remember that you married him for love and till DEATH due us part. So try to keep peace in your home especially if you have children. Recognize the petty things and stop them in there track. Even if your husband is stubborn.
Hope this works.
May peace be with you!!!

If I thought there was any prayer he'd go along with it, I'd say to swap off each month with both of you taking turns. I have never mowed grass in my life and never intend to. I'll do just about anything else outside but simply refused to "learn" how to mow. One of my better moves.

10 hours? Wouldn't be fair for you to do it? It only takes, at the most, 15 minutes to mow the lawn.

You should mow the lawn, your husband makes all the money, he should watch TV and relax.

Personally if it was me, I would hire some highschool kid that lives around the neighborhood to cut the grass...
They are always in need of a few bucks, and you would be doing them a favor if you can afford it...
I wish you well..

When I married the 2nd time my wife said...
"You do the man things and I will do the woman things."
I said OK.
Now I do all the cooking and cleaning and she cuts the grass.
Go figure.
