But of course Life is a Highway. Nice song lyrics, too, but how do ya think they get the ideas for songs? Life and living it. We do travel from many places, not only physically but mentally. Ever stop to think and then realize that long conversation you just had with yourself took maybe, um, 30 seconds and felt like an hour? Yeah. And the car trips where the kids in back are always asking, "Are we there yet?" is a good example. And yes, I want to ride it all night long...I work graveyard shift. LOL

Life is not "really" a highway. Life is life; highways are highways. However, if we adopt the highway as a metaphor of life, then it could be said that life is a highway that we ride until our engines die and we are permanently left in the middle of nowhere.

No...it's not a highway. Parts of it seem to be on the express way for sure, and then some are strenuous climbs up rocky mountains, winding paths through enchanted, alluring and sometimes dangerous forrest, and other times it's simply walking along a lone beach by yourself and sometimes...it's even the subway I think. HEck....it's any kind of journey you can imagine. And sometimes I don't want to all night long, but it's kind of mandatory.

life is a metaphor, not necessarily a highway, but life is a metaphor of and for metaphors... each metaphor, is a lesson, and each lesson is an exit to a different highway that might lead back in a circle, or may not...

Well...if you're lucky, it's a highway. It could be a country road or even a rut.... but even the back roads have their charm!
...and i guess we have no choice, we gotta ride it all nite and day...and the next nite, and the next day...etc...
