I recently moved to Central Florida near the beach. A week or two ago, I found a caterpillar in one corner of my house. Next to it was a brownish stain on the floor. I cleaned it up and today, in the same spot, was another caterpillar thing and brown stain. Is this normal for this area and how do I prevent it? I have the house sprayed every month.

I have inside my house sprayed because I'm a total girl when it comes to bugs and stuff. (deathly afraid) I pretty sure it's a caterpillar or at least some type of worm looking thing. It's about a 1/2-1" long and brown on top with a lighter brownish gray bottom and tons of legs. There's always a dried brownish puddle stain next to them, too. I found them in an interior room and there's no holes in the ceiling or floors around. I even looked in the light fixtures. I'm completely mystified and slightly creeped. I've been here since beginning of the year and these two incidents are the only occurrences, so far. I dont know why they're coming in; I dont even have live plants in my house so I don't know. I was hoping someone would know and could help me.

Humm! Caterpillars in your house...are you sure they are caterpillars. Usually caterpillars in Florida eats the bushes and plants outside. You say your house is sprayed every month...inside or outside??? It's very common in Florida to find palmettos dead in the middle of a room... the females fly into the house when we open the doors. Check for any leak or moist spot under your sink in the kitchen, bathroom and your A/C units.
