I know the Lakers used to be in Minnesota, where the Vikings are, but why do both teams have Yellow/Purple Uniforms?

Thanks to all the people who said because they ran out of colors.....both teams were originally from the same state, so obviously theres a connection.
and to the people who's explanation is that minnesota is the land of 10000 lakes, what does that have to do with the colors purple and gold?

The Lakers used to be from MN. The Vikings were founded in MN in 1959. They took on the colors of the Lakers. 1 year later in 1960 the Lakers were sold to LA.

However if you look closely...The Vikes are Purple and Gold where as the Lakers are Gold and Purple.

Not sure if this is why, but the Lakers used to be a team from Minnesota which is the land of 10,000 lakes.

Maybe people in Minnesota like Purple & Yellow?

Beacuse the LA Lakers use to be the Minnesota Lakers.
It was for the LAKEs of Minnesota.

Because the Lakers moved to LA from Minn. It's funny how the kept the Lakers name, there are 10,000 lakes in Minn and none in LA.

Why would this be an "obvious connection". Could it be that they both just happened to pick those colors? If that is an "obvious connection", then what is the "obvious connection" between the NFL Cardinals, who were at one time in St. Louis and the MLB Cardinals, also from St. Louis. I mean, these two franchises not only have the same color scheme, but the same nickname.

It was from when we had the Lakers, we also had the Vikings. We are the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" (but it's closer to 13,000), thus, the Lakers, and we are mostly descended from Norway... thus the Vikings.

Vikings are purple and gold-not yellow.
