It depends on the stain. Here are two great products:

Rust: Whink (Ace Hardware)
Blood: White Rain hair spray

We JUST finished bulding a house and doing ALL the research on EVERY thing you can add to a home. For carpets we have been told white vinegar with water - anything else with take the color out of your carpet. Make sure to use cold water - hot water will "set it" Good luck

depends a lot on the carpet,,,rent a rug doctor or shampooer if its decent carpet just follow the msr's directions if its old and you dont care you can do the same thing just add a lil bleach , unless its blue

Formex--that stuff is killer. I use it on my car seats too.
