It entirely depends on what the rubbish on your PC is.
If it is programs, then remove them using either the program's own Uninstall option or via the Add/Remove rpograms option in Control Panel, then you should run a program such as CCleaner (available free from www.download.cnet.com or www.majorgeeks.com) to clean out the registry.
If it is spyware/adware or a virus, you need to turn off system restore, reboot your PC in safe mode, then run your spyware/adware/virus checkers to remove all problems, then reboot into normal mode and turn on system restore. Again, run the CCleaner program after this to get rid of any legacy files that are cluttering your registry.

the process of restoring from the past dates cannot remove or to get rid of anything that has been added to your pc it will just sit in there and restores some data to its original state. for example having an annoying spyware, just remove the virus and restore it from the past week unless system files is not corrupted.

wait before u try the other 2 ideas...go into system tools and run Ur disc cleaner first....u never need to use ur system restore unless ur computer boots up to last good known configuration...this would be ur last straw so to speak before the crash occurs....it is always a wise thing to go and create another restore point ...lots of ppl forget about this i would rather have 3 good restores than just 1....because if it boots up to last good configuration then the next time u will be staring at the ominous of the blue screen of death so be aware of this in the future and u won't have to ask this question
