Andrew could deflect bullets and had a lasso of truth.
James turned green when he got pissed off.
John was the lame one, he just talked to fish.
Philip wore his underwear on the outside of his pants.
Bart could do whatever a spider could.
Thomas could turn into animals and Matthew could turn into different forms of water after putting their rings together and saying Wonder Disciple Powers Activate!!!
James could put both his fists in his mouth at the same time.
Thadeus could run really, really fast, and wore alot of red lycra.
Simon could stretch out his arms and legs to amazing proportions.
Judas Iscariot had the amazing power to not believe Jesus' bullsh*t.

I think you are confusing biblical figures with comic book characters. The Apostles were given the abilities to speak in tongues, that is, to understand languages other than their own, a handy skill to spread the gospel. They couldn't fly, see through walls or climb buildings with their finger-tips.

They understood that the way to change the world is to change yourself. Not a huge shift, but one little thing at a time. They also understood that if you just begin to try, the whole universe has your back with situations and events that will cause your path for self change to be less clouded with things that cause you to stop trying.
That is what made them appear to be greater than the folks who practice religious ritual in order to change.
