I think one of the funniest movies is "Animal House." I remember when it first came out in theaters, and I can remember the audience just laughing and laughing. Granted, I saw it in a college town, so that might be influential since the movie is about a fraternity that's about to be kicked out.
As for the scariest movie, "The Exorcist" certainly comes to mind. I guess since it supposedly was based on a true story that gives it additional scare appeal.
As for the most romantic, try "Casablanca." Sure, it's old and black and white, but its longevity alone should speak volumes that it appeals to many generations.
