I live in an apartment, which is in a large apartment complex. The A/C broke and I called the Landlord maintanance and left a message. So far there is no response.

I have a 3 weeks old infant at home. What are my options legally? Should I call 911 at this point?

Thanks

I should add that I called yesterday morning. What bothers me is that they don't even call back to say how much time it's going to take them to address the problem!

depending on how long it takes him to reply to that message. If you called 15 minutes ago then you should just suck it up till he calls.

Once you've given your slumlord ample time to address the issue (without putting you or you child in danger) get a moderately priced hotel room and offer him the bill for reimbursement. If he refuses to pay all you'll have to do is take it to small claims court and nearly 100% of the time you'll not only be rewarded the hotel fees but you'll get what they'll call "distress" money for having to deal with this and having to endanger your child.

Find out if there is a landlord/tenant association in your town and file a complaint. If there is not one, consult an attorney who may be able to point you in the right direction as far as legal action. It could lead to a dispute resolution center or court depending on the resources where you live. Hound your landlord in the meantime until he can no longer take it and fixes the A/C.

Give the maintenance crew some time....jeez they are only people not super repair robots. If you havent heard from them by tommorow evening then call them again...and the manager too. There WAS life before A/C....find a way to keep your baby kool. Go to the mall and hangout there...go see a kiddie movie...go to the pool...use your imagination
