How old should your babysitter have to be to sit your kids?

I'm 13 and I baby sit, but I think I'm very trustworthy and responsible. I've also taken the American Red Cross babysitting course, which teaches you to know what to do in common situations when babysitting. The baby sitter should be at least 2 years older than the kid they are babysitting. :)

It depends on their maturity level. If at 10-13, if that babysitter knows what to do in a emergency, cpr, and has the patience for kids, then I dont see any problems. These days younger kids know more than adults do when it comes to emergencies.

depending on the area they are babysitting in, 14 1/2! a fourteen year old knows or should know in case of emergency i must have the parents' contact info...and 911 of course.....and majority of the times they have at least had their health class as a freshman in h/s so they have been given some pointers on what to do in case of a cut, a minor burn, a minor bruise, etc.

Old enough that they understand the concept of watching someone's child, and responsible enough to take care of that child. I started babysitting when I was 12. But it all depends on the child.

Well maybe around 16. That's the limited age that parents let you babysit someone, and the age that someone should babysit your kids.

17 and up and I would get to know them first before I babysit my kids.
