First off...you sooo cannot compare them. Completely different genres and completely different personality traits. Goth is better though. :)
And you just tell them. Don't fear rejection. It is a part of life that is always going to happen. I feel it is better to just be open with people. Hang out with them a bit and make sure you really do like them and just tell them how you feel. If they are a decent human being they will appreciate the honesty. If they are a scumbag, you were better off anyway.

I would have to say Goth since i was one way way way back in day. And i would make sure that you are getting the same vibe back from someone before i asked, but i would start out just having a normal conversation then i would slip in "you know, I've liked you for how ever long you have liked that person, then ask would you like to go out sometime."
