You know, like Cruise and Travolta with Scientology, and Mel Gibson with his crazy Christianity.

Actually no...

I am utterly against the Church of Scientology; a brief review of my Q&A will show this.

But I have no problem seeing cruise or travolta in a movie, they are just one actor out of many in it. Their performance stands on its own, regardless of what they might believe in...

This is because people hate the cult, the organisation, not the people in it, they have just been duped. Its a great shame they are being controlled in this way.

Don’t know about “insane beliefs”, but Russell Crowe is a plane old jerk, and I had to admit reluctantly that he did a great job in “Master and Commander”, so yes, the personal beliefs of actors do effect my ability to enjoy their performance. Good question!

It's more correct to call Mel Catholic...

but yeah, Tom's too crazy for me now...
John, not so much...

also, I don't think it's helped that he's a lot more vocal about everything... his personality (jumping around like an idiot,) his opinion about other people (ala Brooke Shields,) and his crazy religion....

eh. I'm just over him.

Tom Cruise has lost his mind and I have lost my desire to see any of his movies, even the old ones. All I see now when I look at him is him jumping up and down on Oprah's couch!

Most movies try and push a belief on you. Mostly I can ignore it and enjoy the story. It is just entertainment after all!

No not if they are a good actor but if their belief is what the movie is about then maybe, it depends

Not really, because the movies aren't really about them. They're just movies.

And Christianity isn't crazy.

Actually it does. I don't see movies with those actors in them because I don't want to support their craziness.
