It is a vehicle for reinforcing their beliefs. Talk radio focuses people's beliefs in such a way that they begin to become more vociforous and angry at people who disagree with them.
Hitler, or rather Goebbels, used a similar technique to rally the German people in the 1930's.
BTW the lie that the other media is controlled by the "liberals" is also part of the conservative's agenda. Rupert Murdoch is NOT a liberal, in fact the owners of large media companies tend to be conservatives. Conservatives continue this "liberal media" myth is to intimidate reporters into reporting with a more conservative slant. For example, when every scientist agrees that global warming is a fact, conservatives cry "you must tell both sides of the story" so the nightly news feels intimidated to include some wacko saying "global warming doesn't exist" when they do a story about global warming.

Obviously you are not a conservative. Let me clue you in on something. The conventional media is controlled by the liberal machine. It's not an opinion, it's a well know fact. Talk radio is the only medium that conservatives get to voice their points of view. The nightly news, the newspapers, etc are all liberal slanted. Talk radio simply evens the scales a bit. And listen, libs spew plenty of hate and names, so just call ti equal time. Or are you against the 1st amendment as well?

neerdowel - hit it right on the head. As a conservative republican his comments on the modern media is factually correct.
Ethan M - as always is blind as a fuc king bat. Sean Hannity does more to distort the truth than any other right wing pundit (he is not a journalist) that I have ever encountered.
I listen and tape hannity's show and record every lie he perpetrates on the American public. He should be greeted with "Hi Sean, your a piece of s h i t. As a conservative republican he does not speak for me or the true values of America. Which proves by the way Ethan that you do base alot of your questions on what you hear on his show like I have accused you of before and you also share in the separation of America and its core values.

LOL, this is a easy one, demorats and libs are like Dracula, as he can't stand the light of day, they can't stand the light of truth! People who hear all the story or both sides of an issue can make up their own minds, that drives the libs nuts, not being able to tell the masses what and how to think!!

Yeah, the tone of their talk hasn't changed since the government went all Republican. You'd think they would get a bit more mellow, or more smug (you know: "nah, nah, we're in power and you can't touch us..."), but it's worse now on the air than when Clinton was in office.
And why all the screaming? Is civil discourse completely dead, or is their listenership so old that they have to yell to be heard? I don't understand...

i can only say hannity for the most part is a confused catholic stuck with an indoctrination to all things free and mired in religious rituals the like of pagan egypt.

Why do you call conservative radio 'hate radio'? Even though I find Rush to be a blowhard, I haven't heard any of this so-called 'hate'. He ridicules people.
Now, I have listened to some liberal radio, and that is full of more malevolence and hatred than any conservative radio I've ever heard.
Why do you ignore that?

You obviously don't listen to Hannity. I listen to him every day and what I hear is love of America, defending of our allies, and promotion of the common man. Most of the name calling and screaming I see and hear come from people like Michael Moore, Howard Dean and Jack Murtha.

The people who think talk radio preaches hate are not listening.
If you want to hear hate, listen to the personal attacks on Limbaugh and other talk hosts.

Given the link yesterday related to red-staters having the lowest IQs
I must surmise it is pure stupidity.
It's also a distraction from what they know they really ARE.
And oh yeah,ANYTHING that is not used for pure right-wing propaganda is "liberal".Another lie.
