Well im not sure if discriminating is the right word but has anyone else noticed that some makeup brands dont sell colours that darker skin people can wear like eyeshadow and face powder?? AND ive also noticed that its the same for lighter skined people, they cant wear certain eyeshadows and face powder, the brands don't have their shade. Is it possible to complain or ask companies to make enough shades for all the skin colours??

MAC has great makeup for darker skinned women. Iman has her own line. Black Opal. Hell, even Mary Kay and make up in drugstores like CoverGirl and Maybelline. I'm caramel complected, but I've never had a problem finding makeup and have seen shades and colors for women even darker.

I have noticed the same exact thing! I have VERY fair skin. So I'm like.. Pale. I can't tan or anything. So, half the time I cant wear make-up. I think someone should complain to the make-up companies.

I think some companies just want to target to a specific market. For example Iman who's an african american super model makes a make up and skin care line just for dark skinned women. Still some of the colors are beautiful and some of my fair skinned friends wear it. And now loreal has a new line called HIP which has brighter colors. I think they just want to expand their market and keep trying to come up with new things to advertise.

I do not think it is called discriminating. I think they just have more selection for fair colors as opposed to darker colors. Also, the people with light skin want to have a darker skin and people with darker skin want to look lighter.

Clinique's "Superbalanced Make Up" range seems to cover a broad scale of skin tones. Perhaps you could try this product if you have very light or dark skin?

of course its possible to complain or ask companies to make other shades. Every package of makeup has either a web page, address, and/or phone number. write to them and make your request. If they get enough people, believe me, they will make it right.

i dont knw if you guys have heard of prescriptives, but i heard they are really good matching your skin color because they mix and make your powder/foundation/eye shadow or whatever to your exact color right infront of you! http://www.prescriptives.com/custom/custom_landing.tmpl
i have never tried this product but a lot of my friends are indian and they always say how difficult it is for them to find make up to ther exact color and Prescriptives is the only brand for them!
Good Luck!

where are you shopping? Bobbi Brown, MAC, NARS, Clinique & Bare Escentuals all have great makeup for richer pigmented skin.

yep i have definitely noticed. i think it's because there are more white people than black. but i think that is no reason to have so many lighter makeups!
