we're thinking of vacationing in kansas city and are looking into staying at the great wolf lodge. wondering if it's worth the money and if it stacks up to all the 'hype' it gets on the radio.

I live in the KC area, have friends that have stayed there (like for a kids slumber party), and many have said it's not worth the hype, although the indoor waterpark is awesome, and limited only to hotel guests, so it's not going to get crowded like Oceans of Fun will. If you stay there, I'd only stay there a night, let the kids do the waterpark, then go stay someplace else. I don't know how much it is, but I don't know if I'd pay more than $130 a night, maybe $150 since you get the waterpark, but outside of Nebraska Furniture Mart, the KS speedway, Cabelas and a couple of other things that I'm sure has been built there, there's not much else around there.

If you're in town over a weekend this summer, check out Shawnee Mission Theater in the Park. High quality community theater in a natural amphitheater...bring blankets or lawn chairs. go to www.thetheaterinthepark.org for show info/prices/etc. Shows start at 8pm, but I believe it opens for seating at 7.

Well, the Great Wolf Lodge (GWL) is cool, but way too much money for it (personal opinion). Let's see. They have an indoor waterpark. Okay, so what. They have a Pizza Hut inside. Okay, big deal. The scenery is neat. Okay, I'll give you that. However, why spend all that money for an indoor water park when we (Kansas City) has Oceans of Fun. Pizza Hut? We have it anywhere. The scenery is the only capture. Are you willing to spend hundreds of dollars just for the scenery? It'll be better if you just stayed somewhere else and visited Oceans of Fun on I-435 (Missouri side).

If you plan to vacation in Kansas City, make plans to visit Oceans of Fun, Worlds of Fun, Legends (which is around the Kansas Racetrack and T-Bones stadium), maybe go visit Crown Center, Oak Park Mall on 95th and Quivira, Independence Mall (I-70 and Highway 291), and the Great Mall of the Great Plains (I-35 and 151st street).

It's a sticky situation. Money has broken up families and friends. You didn't explain alot in details. Does he repay you? How long does it take for him to repay or ask for more money? If it's a constant think, and you know the money isn't being spent wisely, than don't give it. If he's Truly a good friend and you understand the situation in which he needs money. Than let him know that until he repays you back you will not lend out more. Make it into a contract. Maybe also start mentioning that you are short on money..that way he might not think of you for any help. Only you know his ways, plus if hes a close friend you should be able to talk to him about it. good luck,tc

Stayed in one in the Poconos. New last year.

We had a great time, and didn't really need to go out and do anything else for two days. The kiddies love the rides and the pre-teens like hanging out by the game room and checking out other kids.

One problem was that there is really nothing for adults there, and the place basically blacks out at 11 p.m.
