1934 penny is $0.10 in good grade
and up to $8.00 in uncirculated grade.
Unless the coin is in high grade most dealers won't buy it for more then a few cents.
You can always put it on eBay and charge more for shipping and handling but don't expect a big pay out.

You can bring it to a store....you can still use it to buy stuff. I really doubt if it is worth very much, but you could research it on the internet, or bring it to a local coin shop just to make sure ( you never know, the one you have might be rare)
