A friend of mine attended a Donald Trump real-estate seminar over the weekend and one of the guest speakers mentioned that homes built before 1930 can qualify for government grants. The speaker ended it there and said he reveals the details after you purchase his book or video. Does anyone have any other information regarding this?

Yes, there are.

There is a grant called 15.904 HISTORIC PRESERVATION FUND GRANTS-IN-AID http://12.46.245.173/pls/portal30/CATALOG.PROGRAM_TEXT_RPT.SHOW?p_arg_names=prog_nbr&p_arg_values=15.904 given to "States for the identification, evaluation, and protection of historic properties by such means as survey, planning technical assistance, acquisition, development, and certain Federal tax incentives available for historic properties..." This means you will have to apply with your state and ask how you can qualify for this grant

If you are in New York state, they have Historic Preservation Grant Programs

California has Historic Preservation Awards and this is their website http://ohp.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=22050

God I hope this isn't true. Why in the world should the government spend our money just because a house is a certain age?
