Having the windows open will allow some air circulation to remove some of the heated air inside the car. Having them closed keeps all the heat inside but, despite what some have suggested, it will not cause any windows to break because the car is not airtight and will not build up any pressure. If it did, you would hear the release of that pressure whenever you opened the door of a hot car. Personally, I keep mine closed in case of rain or if a bee or wasp flies in to surprise me when I return.

Yes. Heat can build up an a car, and actually create pressure in the car and break windows. There is also the comfort factor. If you crack the windows and let a little cool air in, the car won't be so hot when you get into it.

Heat is the amount of particle energy in a system. Heat wants to go to an area of less heat energy--or "cold". If you leave your windows down just a little bit, the only way for that heat energy that has been built up by photons of sunlight coming in and hitting particles of air and items inside the car to get out is through those two tiny slits. If perchance it is a windy day, then wind will help draw out air from inside the vehicle a little better. But, this lowering of energy will still not result in temperature inside vehicle to end up near or lower than temperature outside. Outside has much larger system for heat to dissipate throughout. So, your still going to jump into an oven; it's really not much better unless you leave you windows open. The further down you leave your windows, the better outlet for the energy, but then the better inlet for hands and arms of people who shouldn't be inside your vehicle. Or more water drops in case it rains.

Yes it helps a little. But your steering wheel is still going to be too hot to touch, and if you make the mistake of touching the metal part on the seat belt latch, remove your finger as quickly as possible.
