I am a mother and I will always have unconditional love for my children, and the person that said only between parents and children, u are missing the boat. Don't u know a lot of parents gave up their kids, unconditionally! I also love the person I am with, unconditionally. That is a relationship, with trust, compassion. This day and age alot of them look like they love only themselves and sometimes that isn't even unconditional

No, I have a friend who loves me unconditionally... it's amazing, partly because it is rare.
p.s. unconditional love is not an emotion. It's a commitment of the will to the true good of the person you are loving... and often goes against your temporal feelings.

Unconditional love in humans? Yes. In fact, it has never existed in humans. Unless you call people adoring little infants... But then it goes away after toddle-hood. But in companions for humans? No, not extinct there. They're not really greedy, and I don't really think they really understand the basis of greed, so animals are really great companions.

no. it still exists. it definitely still exists. what you should be asking is whether it is enough to maintain a relationship in this day and age. I know unconditional love still exists, but I think that people now need so much more that love is not enough to keep people together. Sad, isnt it?

No. See Pope John Paul II's reponse to the man who shot him. See the Blessed Mother Theresa of Calcutta.
For a good treatment of the subject of Love, see Pope Benedict's new encyclical: God is Love. He talks about all types of love.
“Today, the term “love” has become one of the most frequently used and misused of words, a word to which we attach quite different meanings…. love between man and woman, where body and soul are inseparably joined and human beings glimpse an apparently irresistible promise of happiness. This would seem to be the very epitome of love; all other kinds of love....”

i don't think it's extinct... whenever i see a mother with her child i'm reminded of the fact that unconditional love exists...
but it is definitely endangered... love itself isn't really taken very seriously... society trains us to be selfish rather than giving...
i have hope, though, that as long as parents give their unconditional love to their children, it will always exist...and though it's difficult to find and give... i will strive to give nothing but unconditional love to my friends and family... because i don';t think they deserve any less...
think of those commercials that show one person doing a good deed and setting off a chain reaction until it gets back to him... it's possible...

Yes it is..people just say I love you, like I love cake..its just meaning less..the word love has lost its meaning...if you ever feel like there is no words not even the word love..then maybe you've reach unconditional love..

Unconditional Love is probably a bit too hard for most humans.
In any age.
Animals do it much better.
