I have started seeing someone with a depression after a failed marriage. He seems finding a lot of comfort from me but told me is still unstable at the moment, and we decided to take it slowly. What is the best way to support him?

Every person is different on how they handle bad times in their lifes. I can say that I was going through a horrible break up when I met my husband. I liked having a friend but not really ready for anything more because I still loved my ex. My husband (now) unlike most people sat and listened to my cry, complain and vent ALOT. He actually helped me through it by just listening to me, by being there. They say "a new great love can overtake a old great love" which turned out to be true for me. I always look back all the time thinking what a wonderful person he was to listen to my whining about some another man. I am thankful he was patient with me. It really did show me how loving and supportive he could be. I do hope the same for you, just give him a bit of time to accept closure on the previous relationship.

theres no good result in falling in love for someone who undergoes a strong depression and a failed love life.... only way ot support him is to be a friend, hearing out his tensions but not offering yourself as a replacement.

best thing to do is let him go. he is not ready for a new relationship if he is still soaking about the old one. He is on rebound mode and that is not good for you. Good Luck

be calm, understanding, helpful, encouraging BUT.....don't let him USE you as a sobbing towel. don't let his whining and complaining become the focus of his relationship to you. the key is: is he trying to get past the pain or just wallowing in it with your help?
