4:30 or 5:30, but not 5:00.

(307steelerrd, it cannot be "5 o'clock" anywhere at 16:30 UTC/GMT. I did click your link, and it confirmed that at 16:30 UTC/GMT, there is no place that has a time of 05:00 or 17:00. It would be possible at some other times that end in :30, just not 16:30 UTC/GMT, which was when the question was asked.)

By the old methods of keeping time, yeah, where every town was its own time zone. But by the ones we use now . . . nope. When trains started making it faster for people to get from one place to another, everyone started getting annoyed at having to fix their watches every 10 seconds so we go by the 1-hour difference now.

So It's not 5:00 somewhere. But it is 5:30

No, If it's 12:30 anywhere it cant be 5:00 some where else. the time zones are divided into hours only.

no
the different time zones differ by an interval of 1 hr, not less than 1 hr
so there is 5:30 somewhere, but not 5:00

Of course, because some time zones are offset from GMT on the half-hour. Newfoundland is one such time zone here in North America. (Well, I'm writing from North America!)

Say you're in Los Angeles and it's 12.30pm there. It would be 5pm in Newfoundland at that time.

(Anyone saying that time zones only set to the hour are wrong. Check Newfoundland time, among several others, including Myanmar, Mumbai etc, etc.

Kathmandu is actually more unique, it's GMT +5:45 hours!

If you're taking the time to edit your posts to tell me I'm wrong, the least you can do is take the time to click my source to see if I'm right.)
