Punishing it is also punishing yourself, what did it do, You could try what anyone especialy perants do, find out what it likes and take it away, to really punish (well torment) dangle that perverbial carrot infront of it, make it want something then take it away. or just slap the hell out of it

You put it in the closet, close the door and walk away. Duh. Are you for real? Probably not. Hey, you could beat it senseless; throw it in the clothes washer, set washer for heavy load and turn it on; put it in a toaster and watch, throw it in the trash and set trash can by the side of the road. Any of these would work.
