Call me paranoid, but with tensions rising in the middle east, what are some of the possible consequences of the current state of war between Israel and the Hezbolla group? Did WW III start 8 days ago? Since it is unavoidable, When and How will the US get further involved in this war?

Four questions in one!
1. The Middle Est will lose the advances it has made in the past few decades. The nations there could pound each other to dust.
2. Same as #1, except I disagree that you are paranoid.
3. It isn't a world war unless most of the world is involved. It could become a world war, however.
4. I hope the US will stay in the background, pulling strings to bring an end to the conflict. It's in nobody's best interests for the conflict/war to continue.

You're not paranoid, this is incredibly frightening. If Israel sticks to Lebanon, it might not escalate, but I don't see that as likely. I think Israel is trying to force the Western powers to actively support them, and if things keep up as they are, they might have no choice but to do so. As soon as Syria or Iran become actively involved (they are currently indirectly involved), I think it's WWIII. With all the tension in the Middle East due to the creation of Israel after the end of WWII, something like this was probably inevitable.
