Is it normal for my cable modem to...?

I habe a SB4200 SURFboard cable modem and the activity light (orange ) is always blinking. Is this normal? We have it hooked up to a D-link DI-624 router.

The activity light blinks when there is any activity. Such as you accessing the internet, Windows, antivirus, etc checking for updates, your ISP pushing out dhcp, pinging, etc.
This is normal behavior, even if you're not "online".

dont worry,if its blinking means then its working and transacting the data....

or else problem on the connectivity...so dont worry.
