I have trouble engaging my honda passport transmission, any suggestions?

THE LEVER SEEMS TO BE STUCK BUT AFTER A FEW TIMES OF PUSHING THE BUTTON IN AND OUT IT WILL FINALLY LET ME ENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION.

check the tranny fluid. after that, check the shifting linkages underneath. also, the button mechanism may need some lubeing.
