During the night you body goes into REM sleep, which is the most relaxed state the body can be in. During that time, it will relax smooth tissue and muscles, generally the body all over. Also during that time, in the morning, your hormone levels are at the highest point throughout the day. Thus, relaxed tissue for blood to flow in to, plus hormones at the highest levels, equals a morning erection.

There are three reasons and to understand you will need to understand how a man gets an erection. So be patient. The tissue in a mans penis is full of pores or caverns. There are a few main arteries that carry blood to the penis and a couple of veins that carry blood away from the penis. During sexual arousal the arteries open wide and this causes more blood to flow into the penis than can flow out through the smaller veins. The extra blood fills up the spaces in the tissue of the penis and the penis becomes hard. Now three things could be happening in the morning. One a man gets erections about 6 or 7 times during the night while he sleeps. One of those could be occuring in the morning when he wakes up. Second, the kidneys work all night and a young man usually does not wake up to go to the bathroom to urinate so the bladder gets really full. This over extended bladder presses down on the veins in the penis and so more blood is entering the penis than can leave and an erection occurs. Usually this is a very hard erection and when the boy awakens and goes to the bathroom he even has trouble bending the penis down to point it at the toilet. Third, it is possible that a man can be sexually aroused during the twilight wake up time just by being in bed with his partner and he gets an erection in the normal way. Morning wood is one of the things we have to live with by being male. They will not occur in old age and my advice is take advantage of them while you got them

because our heartbeat slows down in our sleep ans a flacid penis doesnot get enought oxygen and would get gangreen and fall off so during the night at times blood naturally rushes to the penis to give oxygen the rush of blood to the penis causes an erection. some times we have this happen just before we wake

Testosterone builds naturally over night.
We used to call 'em piss-hards. It usually recedes after urinating.

Usually we just have to pee and when we hold it for a long time it becomes erect. Usually it's hours of holding, not like 20 minutes or something.

It's a natural thing ... we rest and then we are ready to go. I wish more women enjoyed it ... in my experience, most women like the evening.
