I think Maria has great potential to be back at number 1 and hold on to that ranking for record time. She will find her groove again, we haven't seen the best of her yet. While I agree with the contention that Henin-Hardene and Mauresmo are more complete players, we have to remember that both of them are already getting close to or at their their prime while Maria is still growing and developing as a player. Maria has been very smart in her tennis so far and with good guidance and dedication (which she has) will become the most dominant player of her generation.

The peak age for a tennis player is between 24 and 28. Sharapova is only 19. Her body is still growing and it seems that this is bothering her game still she keeps making it to the semifinals on the major tournaments.

She is a very dedicated player always finding ways to improve her game and a very though competitor. Once the growing process finishes and she starts controlling her body better I'm sure she will start winning major titles again and recover her number 1 spot.
