admittedly, it works for many people, but there are always so many return visits: necessary or an addiction? (perhaps it depends on the trust you have in your chiropractor... they wouldn't prescribe you more visits than are absolutely necessary, would they?)

There are a few reasons why chiropractic patients undergo so many return visits. The first is that it may take a while to correct their problem. For example, if someone has had bad posture (and backache) for years, their muscles, ligaments, and vertebrae have obviously been trained in that position. Regular visits are necessary to retrain the body into a more natural posture (strengthening the ligaments and moving bone is not something that can be accomplished in 2 or 3 visits).

Secondly, once you've acquired the new posture, the pain goes away, and you find yourself feeling better, why would you not want to make sure it stays that way?

If a person goes on a diet, exercises, and loses weight, do they stop exercising and eating right after they've met their weight goal? When a person gets dental braces removed, do they not bother wearing the retainer because the problem is "fixed?"

It's all about maintaining what we worked so hard to achieve. So some people go back to their chiropractor every few weeks to make sure that things are still in order. For most chiropractors, it's NOT about the money. It's about maintaining your health.

Chiropractic care is not addictive. It's the level of health that you care to have. What happens to people who do not go to the chiropractor and then decided to go for whatever reason ( I go at least once a week), starts to go all of the time because why?? Well, your bones have a memory and when they are put in their proper places, they remember the prior spot(bad) and go back out. With regular visits, they remain in their normal position and help out with many ailments(sore back, numb arms, sleep, soreness, I could keep going). Hope this helps

ANYTHING can be addictive.

It is important to be educated about the choices you make for any health practitioner.

You have to decide on what is right for you. My family sees a chiropractor about once every six to eight weeks. My sons and husband are very physically active -- skiing and snowmobiling in the winter, bike riding, working out, paying paintball, basketball, swimming and 4-wheel riding in the summer...

These activities can stress your body and it is always good to have someone put it back to "rights."

You need to remember that just because a chiropractor says you need x number of visits, does not mean you must do all those visits.

It is always important to keep yourself active and in good physical shape. This will reduce your need for ANY health practitioners.

Yes, they would. They make money on your visits.

My husband enjoyed the machine they put him on. Always a pretty nurse would come into the room where he was on the machine and admire the erection that he got while on it and he enjoyed that. Also a pretty nurse would do the preliminary massage before the maniplation.

And too, I once went to the chiropractor after I had my baby, it makes you feel lighter than air right afterward, you come down with a boom the next day though.

I have a friend who goes all the time whether her back is hurting or not. I think that it does become an addiction.
