No, but pregnancy can be a very scary time, especially for first time mums. Is can be nice to get a little reassurance off other people who have been through the same experiences. The fact that it is a common subject should indicate to you that medical proffessionals arent always available at the drop of a hat, whereas the helpful people on yahoo answers are! If you have such a problem with these people seeking advice then dont answer their questions, otherwise leave them alone!

If you don't want to be open minded and give an answer to that kind of question than skip over or don't even bother reading it...
Like others have said, it is good to hear others experiences and opinions, and sometimes it saves you a trip to the Dr.
- You must be a Dr. getting mad because this is taking away from your money with less people coming to the office for you to tell them they should just get rest, for a week or so and then charge them $200 for the visit!

Mayb they dont have medical insurance I am 24
i doubt everyone on here is 15. I tthink the majority of teenage girls ask pregnancy related questions because the nation does not educate them enough about sexuality &7 the consequences. Another aspect is that in todays society teens are exposed to sex at such a earely age that they dont realize what it really is, families have los their values & meanings clearly they cant ask their parents!!!! So Sad!

I am 34 years old and know to call my doctor or a nurse advise line with medical questions.
My guess these people who come here asking questions do not have a clue that the doctor or a nurse is who they need to talk to about their concerns.
If you cannot afford medical insurance then do not get pregnant because people online are not medical professionals or experts. You cannot base your medical concern on those who may have experienced the same thing because it is putting more harm than good to your situation.

I think that not everybody have insurance and can go see doctor. Americans have major problem with insurance coverage one out of 4 does not have medical insurance. So this is one of the reasons they ask questions here. Also there is saying: one head is good, 2 is better. You can always talk to doctor and your lady friends. But you have much larger crowd here who can help and make useful advise which will help in the future.

Have you payed attention to any of the answers. Some people like a general opinoin before calling thier doctor. I asked a question once that was answered by a doctor. So obviously doctors are reading these questions.

I am a doctor and I read the medical questions quite regularly. I try to give my 2 cents worth if the question is specific enough and with sufficient information.
However i do agree with you that most times, the questions are not specific or they may vary depending on where you live. It is also not entirely safe based on the limited information that is given. I try my best to help but in large number of cases, it is best to go see a doctor yourself.

Easy.....no health insurance, if I could afford the $100 it takes to see a doctor I could afford health insurance. Most of the time doctors are just guessing anyway. Unless it's a radical condition I take all the free advice I can get, whether it's on yahoo answers or from friends. It has always worked out fine, and saves me big bucks.

Because they think they'll get medical information for free, and can avoid a trip to the doc. The problem is, here they don't know who is giving the advice, nor their qualifications to do so. Using advice in that manner can lead to death or serious complications.

Well, I'm 27 and have no medical insurance. Believe it or not, I have received some very helpful answers and saved myself a 200.00 doctor visit to boot.
