I heard that in 2010 they willno longer be part of Oceania qualifers? Is that true?

just to add to what foonjwk has written, Soccer Australia did not feel that we would improve staying in Oceania. There were games being won 31-0, 28-0 and 18-0 etc. It may be harder to qualify from the Asia Confederation, but it is a chance they needed to take. The competition is better and that will only assist them to improve. I think they were right to look ahead, to think long term and do what they had to to encourage the growth of football in Australia and provide better opportunities and experience for the team.

AUSTRALIA is now a member of Asian Football Confederations (AFC) since January 2006. AFC has also accepted their participation in the upcoming 2007 AFC Asian Cup.
they have been drawn in Group D of the 2007 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers which also contains BAHRAIN, KUWAIT & LEBANON.

22.02.2006 - BAHRAIN 1-3 AUSTRALIA
16.08.2006 - AUSTRALIA v KUWAIT
31.08.2006 - AUSTRALIA v LEBANON
06.09.2006 - KUWAIT v AUSTRALIA
11.10.2006 - AUSTRALIA v BAHRAIN
15.11.2006 - LEBANON v AUSTRALIA
*If AUSTRALIA finishes in the top two places, they will qualify to the 2007 AFC Asian Cup finals.
