Usually it is 3-4 Centimeters, but theres no way of you knowing unless you have a gyno with you to do a pelvic exam before going to the hospital. The best way to determine when to go to the hospital is when your contractions are 5 minutes apart and lasting for 1 minute, and this had continued for at least an hour.
You will know when the contractions aren't letting up its time to go. Also if your water breaks, it will feel like a gush of fluid you cant control comming out of you, is another time you must go to the hospital. Usually after your water breaks the contractions will come on harder and faster, so be ready. Good luck with your pregnancy!

My doctor said go to the hospital when the contractions start getting closer together around 3-4 minutes apart. I live about 5-7 minutes away. But usually you are dilated to 4 or 5

I was scheduled to be induced, and when I got there, I was already 3 cm dilated, so they just broke my water and skipped the drugs to dilate my cervix.
I don't think it's a matter of how much you're dilated, but how close together your contractions are. My doctor said not to go to the hospital until they were 5 minutes apart.

It all depends on your body and how you are reacting to labor. Usually if you are at about 4-5 they will put you in a room. They were going to send me home because I wasn't in pain, but I was at 5cm, so they kept me in the hospital.

i think dr's want you to have regular contractions before going to the hospital. i don't think there is a set number dilated, i mean, if you are like 6 or 7, they prolly want you there, but your contractions, depending how far you live from the hospital, like 5 mins apart or if your water broke.

True you almost have to be dieing at some hospitals. I was in labor for two weeks with my older son. They didn't admit me until I was at least five to six cm along. Good luck sweetie

Depends on the hospital and doctor but once your water breaks they wont let you go anywhere. You will be admitted immediately.
