Is there really a program that companies use to read your email? I know like say your company email addy is through Outlook, they can read your outlook mail, but I heard there is a program that will let them read your yahoo/hotmail/gmail etc account. Has anyone else heard that? Wouldnt that be some kind of invasion of privacy? I'm using yahoo's server, not theirs..

Many companies track employees internet useage, not only mail but what websites you are browsing and other internet useage. This is not invasion of privacy as you are using company resources on company time.

The emails are generally unencrypted and they can be read by anyone with a little technical know-how. There are billions of emails that are floating about and can be fetched to be read. But chances that you can read any specific mail is impossible.

The intelligence agency have programs that can fetch emails then those programs pass through filters and the harmless mails are thrown away and the ones that are threatening are kept to be analysed further.

IT can look at people's computers randomly when you work for a company. They do not consider it invasion of privacy because you are on company time supposed to be conducting company business.

Unless they have your password to yahoo or gmail then they can't get on it. You need to read your company's HR guidelines to see if you allowed to use a company computer to access your personal information. I am sure thye track all of your internet usage and where you go.

They can see anything that travels over thier network, although they probably woudn't take the time unless they had a good reason to suspect something. Tthey have the right to intercept anything they want as it is thier netowork and they are responsible/liable for all actiivities that take place on it.

There are programs that allow someone to be watching everything you do on your desktop in real time, without you knowing it. If you have something you don't want anyone else looking at then don't do it at work.
