One doesn't actually visit the various springs that make up Barton Springs. It is an ancient and beautiful spot near downtown and the water is 68 or so degrees year round.

When you arrive in August you will appreciate the cool water, believe me!

There is a public pool in Zilker Park that is fed by a natural spring. The water flows down Barton Creek, so if you follow the creek south (up stream) then there are trails and natural pools that you can swim in. Your best bet is to just go to Zilker Park and use the public pool. It's very popular.

Zilker Park is southwest of downtown Austin on the south side of Town Lake.

Barton Springs Pool is fed by several underground springs. It is always very cold because the water come up from underground. It's located in Zilker Park. It's a great way to cool off on a hot day.
