No biggie-it happens all of the time. Tell your friend to go into the bank with a picture i.d. and two other forms of identification, and explain to them what happened. The bank will issue a new passbook. If your friend needs a history of her transactions, the bank should be able to do that as well.
I think if I were her, though, I'd switch to a mailed statement instead. I know most banks don't want to deal with those passbooks, anyway.

You need to walk into the bank and tell the accounts person what happened. They can always and for free open up a new account for her with a different account number.
Tell her to do this as soon as the bank opens. As long as she didn't have any checks along with her bank book she should be okay, but its always best to be safe and not sorry. Do it THIS MORNING!!!

you go to the bank where you got the bank book from and tell them that it was lost so they can stop the account and keep anyone from taking money out or putting money

She has to call the bank immediately and they will cancel her check book.. If she has not done this already, hope that no one have made checks on her name. So tell her to call NOW, Pronto! Andale!
