A lot of people believe that Nessie is a plesiosaur, a type of dinosaur, but Loch Ness is too cold and does not have enough plant life to support a breeding population of dinosaurs or other large mammals in it. Others believe it's a sea serpent, based on photos which were later proven to be fakes. Nessie, like Bigfoot and the Yeti, etc., are legends that some people just refuse to disbelieve.
The Scots, I think, believe Nessie to be a really nice money-maker for them!

I have been to Scotland and the Loch's, a fisherman in the 1800's was sailing for a long period of time with little sleep, he and his crew saw a large figure in the water, that they believed looked like a sea serpent but could not physically identify it. The myth is based on a couple of sailors who were obviously starting to hallucinate. There no physical evidence of any large creature in those waters. But it always fun to mess with people when you are there. I recommend that you take a trip to Inverness, Scotland and check out the Loch's, it pretty cool.

A dinosaur or a whole herd of dinosaurs. And since Loch Ness has underground access to the ocean, it is possible that a species of dinosaurs survived when all others became extinct by retreating to the ocean. And who would know if dinosaurs lived in the ocean? We don't know half of what's living down there.

What do people think or what do I think people think? People think its some lake serpent left over from the distant past. I think that some people think its nothing but a floating log or swan. I myself think its the love child of the Abominable Snowman and Puff the Magic Dragon, who lived by the sea.

Some have theorized that it's a plesiosaurus - a survival from the Jurassic era...most are of the opinion it's just folklore.
