It seems like Congress and the President would rather spend billions on other countries then re-invest into our own and fix our own problems, then maybe once fixed we could actually start to help some other countries and make a real difference.
I talking about all the govt cuts, like Veterans healthcare , etc etc etc.

heres another largely rhetorical and dangerous question.
if i may make a point: money alone cannot "fix our problems". love, maybe, but not cash.
and part of this question screams to me after studying a semester of economics AMERICA IS IN DEBT. AMERICA WILL STAY IN DEBT. the debt GROWS every minute. and it will NOT be fixed by TAKING AWAY ALL FOREIGN AID AND USING IT ON OURSELVES. do you understand what kind of allegiances we have with other countries? do you know how many people we help? money CAN fix those problems. we are a financially STRONG country that cannot ISOLATE itself, "fix our own problems" and then "start to help some other countries". you are right - that would "make a real difference" a really BAD one. yes war is a *****! we should NOT be spending this much on warfare, but at this time there is not much YOU can do about that by asking rhetorical questions. try lobbying congress?
how many of your "own problems" have been denied by the government? it looks like you have internet access, which implies that you have other things.
your question offends me, because if we spent no money on other countries, we could not possibly help darfur. do you seriously not care about the ******* GENOCIDE?
furthermore, it is regretful that i must tell you that things like unhappiness and homelessness will not end unless we go 1984 or Brave New World style. how about you stop blaming the government and go serve lunch at the mens shelter?
dont make liberals look bad! go get educated!

While I do agree we need to severely cut back on Foreign Aid. (especially since we only get stabbed in the back afterwards), it is necessary to have some involvement with the rest of the world. Extreme Isolationism just does not work. Ask anyone who lived during WWII.

Oh go piss up a rope....We spend too much money of social programs already. Get off your lazy behinds and start supporting yourself instead of waiting for the Govt to take care of you and raise your kids

I agree to a certain extent, but with a 'global economy' [among other forces\influences], we have to spend money abroad to maintain influence\control of certain things. Think about it in this manner- if you lend your brother some money to pay his bills, he owes you. Also, if you contribute money to the HOA of your neighborhood to maintain the quality of the neighborhood- you are investing in the future stability of your area and increase in property values.

I know, I am sugar-coating 'dookie', but it is what is required of a 'super-power'.

because people like you would be whining regardless of what the governement does...if we spent billions of dollars on healthcare, you would whine that the poor people of iraq are being opressed and that we need to go help...it is never ending...

I agree with you 100%, I think we should take care of our own. Yes there is hunger, destruction, poverty, and homelessness in other countries, and that is unfortunate and very sad. But what's worse is it is here in the U.S. too, and that is tragic.
