Because LOVE is one of the most over used and abused words in the American language. It's easy for someone to say I love you and not mean it in society today. People need to be more selective and determine what love means in their own life before they say they love you and want to bring love into your life. Examine love and find out what it means to you so you can except the right kinds of love in your life.

well, as blkrose said, it's hard for anyone to really know what love is because there are different variations of it. but for the most part, when people don't know what love is, they are probably saying it to gain something for themselves, even at the expense of others. it's possible to not really know what love is and still want to try saying it to someone for the first time, just to see what happens. it's also possible for someone to say it and not truly know the depth behind it-they may use the word sparingly but each time they use it it has a lot of feeling. don't assume that people don't know what love is until you've asked them why they said it though :)

some people mostly guys say it because a lot of girls are naive and most guys want to get laid but if a girl says it its because she thinks by saying that somehow they will stay together or most people think they are really in love and they say it not knowing the effect it may have on someone else

It is sad that some people can use love so loosely and don't mean!! Most say it to get what they want. Even, thou they end up hurting some one!!!

cuz its jus that society puts out all this love sh*t on tv and ppl get used to the word love and they decide hey im gonna use that... even tho they might not hav a clue what it means... or they say it ta get sumthin.... if ya catch my drift

love has many, many variations... your parents love you, and your friends love you. your signifigant other loves you too (if you have one) It doesn't always mean the love that ends in the bedroom doing the horizonatal hula.
