I had the print edition and it showed based on majors. Here's alink to the site, I don't know how its shown there. It depends on what you want to specialize in I think. If you wish to specializ in American History some colleges on the east coast have better programs, because you where the history happened. But if you want to specialize in european history, then of course a european college would be better. Understand what I'm saying? The list at News & World Report are based on graduation rates, job placement, etc. Not if you learned the best information on such and such a topic. Hope this ramble helps.

Tons of places have the best history programs. USC and UCLA are two, really good places to major in history.

If you want a double dose of history in college, go to a college that either is in or right outside of some significant historic town. I can only imagine the education you could get in a town that's rich in it's history (especially if you're interested in that town or the historical period it represents)
