In one word: Civilization.
There is no evidence that biology has the final say in this matter.

In primitive societies, women for the most part did much of the work, and bore almost all of the children (OK, all of them) and not just one or two, as in today's world, they just had one every time they were able. Most of them did not outlive their last pregnancy by too many years.
Of course, all humans until recently died pretty young, but women just plain wore out.
In the last century or so, we have seen a lot of good things happen for longevity, and women have benefitted most, and surpassed male longevity by several years on the average.
There are still parts of the world, mostly where women are valued less than goats, where females do not outlive men on the average.
There is no guarantee that, as society continues to progress, that women will continue to live longer than men. If you look at the leading causes of male death, its pretty apparent that most of it was due to plain old bad living.
The state of civilization, and comparitive longevity, is hardly static, it is changing more rapidly now than it ever has before.
As this generation of men ages, it is quite likely that they will be more health concious than their parents were, and though both men and women are expected to live longer, it is also expected that the mortality gap will also narrow.

Because females are stronger than men both at birth and lifelong. they are emotionally and physically strong, get lesser diseases.. they have strong mind power which can tolerate and overcome most of the difficulties and adjust to the worst of the conditions even though world wide they have had, historically, a very disadvantaged position in the society. Yet they have excelled to survive longer then men.

because men go to war, perform more demanding physical jobs, suffer great levels of stress and take poorer care of themselves, they don't go to doctors even when they are sick, they drink more, smoke more and take more drugs and often have poorer diets than women, they also participate in more perilous sports and activities. We drive more dangerously and get into more fights and crime than women do.

There is also a genetic predisposition for women to live longer, women's bodies don't age as fast - due to hormones and metabolism.

Well, why can women handle pregnancy and men would just faint? We're built to last, psychologically and physically. Sure, we have less muscles, but we probably have more brains. We're just ignored, always picking up dirty socks our hubbie left, lol. Also, I think women are more self-concious about their look, so they prob ably care more about not being overweight, which can cause diabetes, heart problems, asthma...

Men (especially young men) tend to engage in more risky activities than females (look at shows like Jackass). This is also why young men have to pay more for car insurance as well -- they get into more car accidents.

mainly because women allow their emotions to flow freely. They cry when they need to and laugh when they want to. Men are trapped by their masculinizing social norms that don't allow them to act as freely as they might want.
Aslo women take better care of themselves. They go to doctors, specialists, etc. when they need to.
Another major factor may be that when women are depressed, they seek out help, whereas men don't. That's why men have higher suicidal rates than women (which adds to them dying earlier).
Traditionally, men are more dependant on their wives (e.g. cooking, caring, and other dailing activities) so they tend not to outlive their wives. Women, on the other hand, tend to outlive their husbands much more, not just because they're younger than their husbands, but because their much more self-sufficient (when it comes to daily tasks) than men.

Because women tend to care for their bodies much more than men do and also women always open up, men tend to keep things bottled up.

I think because we express our emotions rather than letting them build up. And I also think because when men procreate thats them whereas children then grandchildren always need looking after so we have inbuilt durability.
