I was told that new builds that the bank won't mortgage them in the future because they are timber frramed is this true.

No its not true, but the bank can refuse.

Its more with regards the insurance..

Well our house was 450 years old and made out of an old ship and we got a mortgage.

There are plenty of lenders who can help. Forget the bank, try one of the larger mortgage brokers.

If you search via Google you will find a number of institutions and companies that will help you depending on income, finish of building type of plan and roof etc.,

You may do better askign this in the Finace area, rather than homes (usually home management, not financing).
