I'm having my period but I have a swimming party tonight... could I like wear a pad there and take it off in the bathroom and then while I'm swimming not have a pad on.. I can't wear tampons. But is it true that you don't bleed in the water? Then I could bring another pad to wear on my way home??? Do you think people would notice I'm having my period? I'd stay in the water most of the time..

would that work?

thanks for your help!

I can't wear tampons because they don't fit.

YES IT IS TRUE that you don't tend to bleed while you are in the water such as taking a shower or bath. It slows down tremendously or even goes away. It also depends on how long you've been on it, because if this is day 1, monitor it first to see how heavy it is, and then go from there. Yes, have on one when you get there, take it off while you're in the pool (to make sure there are no surprises) and replace it with another one once you get back in the pool. And no people don't know that you're ON it. Some may be curious if you're cranky. Plus the chlorine in the water will help eliminate any bacteria if you're worried. The choice is still yours. But no one has to know it but you. Enjoy your party tonight :)

If you are anything like me, the reason your tampons "won't fit" is because you are too tense when trying to put one in and/or you aren't allowing yourself enough space. I didn't use them for years because I just couldn't get them in. I know the pictures in the instructions look stupid, but those suggestions do work. That and deep breathing. Tampons have nothing to do with sex or virginity. If your vaginal opening is truly too small for a tampon, you need to see an gynecologist cuz something isn't right.

Don't try swimming with a pad - it just doesn't work. And I hate to say it, but you do bleed when you are in the water. It might not seem like it since the labia kinda seal up, but it does still happen. Add to that the movement of your legs when swimming, and you have a recipe for ickiness.

I'm sorry to say it, but either get yourself the thinnest "lightest" tampon you can find out there and try again, or you're going to have to skip the swimming. I know, it sucks...

The pad would be really gross. It would be all soggy and swell up. Everyone would notice also a lot of bacteria, you may get a yeast infection from having the moist pad. Why cant you wear a tampon. Try using the plastic applicators. They glide easily and are not as bad as the cardboard. You could even lay down to insert , it will be much easier. Another alternative are instead pads. They are little oval cups you insert in the vagina and they collect the blood. They are a little messy when removing, you must empty into toilet and they are NOT flushable. They are sold @ walgreens and CVS. good luck

Oh hun, I wish I knew. See, pads are very absorbent, so it's likely they would puff up in the water and everyone would see it. I hate tampons, but I've always worn one when in swimming. Is it possible you could wear one just for tonight? They come pretty small nowadays for younger girls. I don't know about not bleeding in the water. I heard that fresh or lake water stops the bleeding, but I've never tried it myself. I imagine if it did stop, you would start almost as soon as you stepped out of the water. Good luck dear...maybe you could fake a sprained ankle, LOL?

don't worry about the party! just wash yourself well before getting into the water. its absolutely true that u dont bleed in water. why don't u try to wear something thick in the water rather than just a swimsuit, just 4 precaution? and something dark as well. and wear ur pad until u reach the venue of the party and remove it only wen u r getting in the water. and then when its time to go home, just wear the pad immediately. u'll bleed more after you come out of water. take care! and have ablast at the party!

I think it depends on how heavy your period is. If it's light, I think it won't be a problem to go swimming, but don't stay in the water too long, just to make sure! Or go to the bathroom every now and then to wipe "it" off.
(why can't you wear tampons? You won't feel them, especially not the small ones.)

Because thats groose if u dont wear any thing in the pool! Especially if there are going to be alot of poeple thier.

If you are on the last day of your period I would say just wear a liner and you should be fine, but if you are flowin' like niagra falls, then NO! Go to the swim party in a mini skirt and a cute shirt and just stay out of the pool. If some one asks just tell them you have a minor tummy ache or something.

Well, I never done anything like that and I hate you can't wear a tampon while in the water cause that would be the best especially if you are heavy because you wouldn't know how your body would react in the water.

Unless you like the idea of putting your menstrual blood into your unwitting friend's mouths.. I'd suggest skipping the swimming or learning to like tampons really fast.

Even if you didn't bleed while in the water (which to be honest I don't know if it's true or not) to and from the washroom to the water, or every time you got out of the water, you would.
