It would be good to bring in Russia, as they would have the biggest player base, I assume.
I totally agree with the other answerers who say other teams should play, as it would increase their play.
The problem would come down to the patronage at these games, and whether the sponsors can get their money back, etc.
If Canada were included, it would stop being a European tournament, although it could then be a northen hemisphere tournament. Not that I have anything against Canada.
I doubt any of this will happen in the next 5 years, but you never know. The experiment with Italy is not yet complete.

I say lets kick it really old school and bring back the four nations tournament. All joking aside though, I really don't think there is a seventh nation out there right now that could compete. This past six nations was the first one where Italy even did "well."

About 10 years ago or so Canada was lobbying to be included in the 5 nations. Unfortunatly, I think with outright professionalism the game has progressed and Canada has fallen further behind the Rugby powers of this world.

as with any issues R.F.U. it is going to take years for any action to be taken on concepts, Romania are not on my own, communities like Argentina and the Pacific Islands need to hitch an prolonged southern hemisphere competition, it gained't ensue in a hurry because it isn't an astounding funds spinner. there is an rising eu countries league (very equivalent to the 6 countries) yet we can't in any respect see relegation / promoting with the 6 countries because are you able to spot any of the homestead countries agreeing, exceedingly with Italy now getting more desirable in line with annum. imagine the R.F.U. if England got here in very last triumphing both the mythical timber spoon and relegation, they're going to not in any respect take the probability. Althouth the R.F.U. and the I.B. communicate about the international boom of rugby, at present day it is in basic terms occurring contained in the shortened verions of the game (7's, 10's and call). the money from this years international cup should be pumped decrease back in through the rising countries and not in any respect to the tremendous 8 as in line with universal, they can more desirable than self fund for decades. extra 'A' communities prefer to be despatched to play the up and coming countries to grant them harder suits, you in basic terms boost by playing at a much better popular.

The truth is that if these other countries do not play games at this level, they will never learn to play at this level. They may get pummeled for a few years, but there will eventually be changes made to adapt.
EXAMPLE =
The first USA Dream Team Basketball team pummeled everyone. Now they cannot win a championship to save their lives. Everyone figured out how to pl;ay at their level.....

I don't think there are, at present, any Western European countries that play rugby well enough to make it worth having them in.
Even Italy's a bit borderline.
